TEDxSandhills - Sandhills Community College (All day)

Sandhills Community College is proud to bring the magic of TED Talks to the community with a TEDx presentation on Saturday, April 1, at the Sunrise Theater in Southern Pines. TEDx is a locally-organized version of the internationally-famous TED Talks phenomenon and created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “Ideas Worth Spreading.” Sandhills received its TEDx license late last year and has been working hard ever since to put together an event that will inform, entertain, and hopefully inspire our local audience.

A group of academics, artists, and entrepreneurs will take turns on the stage in a daylong celebration that will showcase Moore County as a cultural center in North Carolina. These eight speakers will have eight to 18 minutes to give the speech of their lives, expounding upon a visionary notion and how it can be applied to the community or the world at large.

TEDxSandhills is one of 11 TEDx conferences scheduled in North Carolina this year and the only one to be organized by a community college.

DID YOU KNOW?

Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon talk about the song "The Windmills of Your Mind" by Noel Harrison and it is played at the film's ending. A different version of this song by The King's Singers was played at the end of the final episode of I'm Alan Partridge (1997), where Alan goes to see the unsold copies of his autobiography being pulped.
