Tribute to Nat King Cole WEB FEATUREIn celebration of Nat King Cole’s 100th year, the Sunrise is proud to present The Allan Harris Band in a Tribute to “The King”. The live, unforgettable concert event is Sunday, August 25 at 2:30pm. The musical tribute showcases Allan Harris’ smooth voice that is reminiscent of the soulful baritone of his idol’s.

Nathaniel Coles was born in Montgomery, Alabama in 1919. He began his career as a jazz pianist but was most famous for his soft, velvety voice. While still in his teens, Nat put together the King Cole Trio, using the name of a children’s nursery rhyme. By the 50s he had transitioned to a solo career with hits like Unforgettable, For Sentimental Reasons, L-O-V-E, Mona Lisa, The Christmas Song, and When I Fall in Love. In 1956 Nat King Cole became the first African-American performer to host a variety TV series. He has maintained worldwide popularity since his death in 1965.
