It's A Wonderful Life Radio Play - Open Auditions in September
The Sunrise Theater is producing a live radio play performance of It’s A Wonderful Life this holiday season. All roles will be played by non-professional, local actors with open auditions scheduled for September 14 and 17 at the Sunrise.
The radio play is adapted from Frank Capra’s holiday classic of the same name. It tells the story of George Bailey, who has spent his entire life giving to the people of Bedford Falls. But when his world falls apart at the seams, he’s given the rare chance of seeing what the world would be like if he was never born.
This timeless tale will be brought to life on the Sunrise stage with performances on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1. It will be produced in the style of an old-fashioned radio show, complete with costumed actors and live sound effects to bring that vintage 1940’s radio charm. It’s a yuletide treat the whole family can enjoy. Tickets will go on sale on October 1.
The Sunrise Theater will be holding auditions on September 14 from 9am to 1pm and September 17 from 2pm – 6pm. Those interested in auditioning should contact the Sunrise to schedule their 10-minute time slot. Actors should come prepared to perform a short monologue, sing a few bars from their favorite holiday song, and do a cold read of an excerpt from the script. Roles are available for seven men, four women, and four children. Lighting, sound effects, costuming, and set design volunteers are also invited to contact the Sunrise.
Rehearsals will be held Saturdays, 9am – noon, in October and November. Tech and dress rehearsals will be the week before the show.
For more information or to schedule your audition time, please call the Sunrise at 910-692-3611, between noon-5pm, Monday through Friday.
