BY POPULAR DEMAND the Sunrise presents four encore screenings of the London smash hit FRANKENSTEIN. General admission tickets in advance or at the door. $20 adults, $10 students. To purchase tickets, please click on the "Ticket Information" tab at the top of the page. Danny Boyle directs the National Theatre production of FRANKENSTEIN, a new play by Nick Dear based on Mary Shelley’s novel. Filmed twice for NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE, cinemagoers can see Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller alternating the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature beginning. Both versions of the production were filmed on March 17. Tonight's version casts Jonny Lee Miller as the Creature and Benedict Cumberbatch as Frankenstein. Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. Urgent concerns of scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil are embedded within this thrilling and deeply disturbing classic gothic tale. Suitable for ages 15 and up. |
